Systematic revision and total evidence phylogenetic analysis of the Andean family Metasarcidae Kury, 1994 (Opiliones: Laniatores), with description of two new genera and twenty new species

Metasarcidae Kury, 1994 (Gonyleptoidea) is exclusively distributed in the Andean region of South America, from northern Peru to southern Bolivia. This contribution reviews family using traditional taxonomy and cladistics. The cladistic analysis based on total evidence (TE), maximum likelihood (ML) direct optimization molecular morphological characters. data matrix composed DNA sequences three mitochondrial loci (12S rRNA, 16S rRNA COI), two nuclear (28S H3) 68 phenotypic dataset consists 25 ingroup terminals (representing 20 species family) eight outgroup species. parsimony resulted one most parsimonious tree (L=4910) that recovered a monophyletic Metasarcidae, sister-group Cosmetidae. As result taxonomic revision hypothesis, new classification proposed with six genera 38 valid which are described for first time. Additionally, following established: generic name synonymies; four seven combinations; secondary homonym names replaced.
